UNSPEAKABLE FILTH. I don't know *what* that bit in the back is even doing, man.
(I'm doing repairs to an 88 frame, and making a new 109 frame out of two + new parts)

Do you mean that small "table-like" thing at the end of the chassis? That's the battery stand I think.

I was making a joke, and yes, the table like thing is the battery stand. There's a retaining box that bolts to it. What I was actually referring to (and joking about) was the replacement rear crossmember, which unlike the majority of other visible parts is going to another chassis altogether.
